Mark D. Peters II, on Behalf of

Hunterdon County

Medication Access Partnership Receives

Edward J. Ill Community Service Leader Award

Lawrenceville, NJ – February 19, 2007 – Patricia A. Costante, Chairman of the Edward J. Ill

Excellence in Medicine Association, today announced that Mark D. Peters II, Pharm.D. will

receive the Community Service Leader Award on behalf of the Hunterdon County Medication

Access Partnership (HCMAP). The award will be presented at the Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Awards™ ceremony on May 9, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Princeton.

The Community Service Leader Award is presented annually to an organization that demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to improving the health and welfare of the citizens of New Jersey.  HCMAP connects individuals with the prescription medications they need. Since January 1, 2006, HCMAP has provided over $500,000 of free medicine to hundreds of Hunterdon County residents in need.

Mark Peters’ inspiration for the formation of HCMAP arose from the compassion he experienced from his community at a young age. Dr. Peters recognized early in his life the important role prescription medicine plays in maintaining and improving health, when his local pharmacy provided prescription medicine assistance to help his mother’s fight with cancer. Dr. Peters is employed by Bristol-Myers Squibb as the Director of Strategic Alliances and Healthcare Quality for Plavix Marketing.

“Mark Peters is an extraordinary example of a leader who saw a need in his community and was willing to find a way to provide a solution,” said Costante. “Not only has he assisted members of his own community, but he has also created a model program for healthcare access for New Jersey and the nation.”
